Pan-seared Cooking Tips
How do the finest steakhouses cook their steaks?
- Start out by letting the steaks sit out for at least 45 minutes before cooking, this allows the core of the steak to get as close to room temperature as possible. Use this time to season your steaks, we recommend a dry-rub.
- Preheat an oven ready pan on your range to medium-high with a minimal coating of butter or non-stick spray. At the same time turn your oven on 400ºF.
- Sear the steaks in the pan for about 2 minutes per side.
- Then place the pan in the preheated oven. Allow to sit for at least 8 minutes for medium and 10 minutes for medium well (Remember to never cut into a steak to check its temperature, always use a food thermometer to check the core temperature of the steak).
- Rare 140º
- Medium Rare 145º
- Medium 150º
- Medium Well 155º
- Well 160º
Finally, allow the steaks to sit under foil for roughly 5 minutes while you prepare your plate before serving.
